However, I must admit that after I started getting caught by customs, and money got a bit tighter due to cutbacks at work, I stopped most of them, and haven't had one for years until last November when I fell in love with the Zany Zinnia kit with the little felt mittens which are perfect for scrapping all my pictures of the kids in the snow last winter.

I went looking for some of the kits I used to get like Scrapgoods only to find that the companies concerned are no more. Looking at the Top 50 kits list, there are still plenty of companies offering them at prices to suit all pockets, but as someone pointed out on the last thread, the prices aren't nearly so attractive when the VAT and "handling charge" are added should the parcel get stopped.

So who still buys the US kits and which ones are good bad or indifferent? I will toss in a vote for Zany Zinnia who offer reasonable prices with lots of matching extras available and super fast service. But what are the others like? Is Club Scrap still around? What happened to Scrapgoods and are there any which are must haves regardless of HMRCs charges?

Incidentally, before anyone starts saying that posts have been deleted, all of the responses to the last thread are still there, but to see them you have to click on the post title to see the link for the second page.

Christmas is Coming

And along with it all the Christmas patterned papers, embellishments and all the classes inviting us to Journal our Christmases, or join in Christmas Countdowns in a hand made album.

Call me Scrooge, but my reaction to all of it is Bah! Humbug!

I have enough to do in the run up to Christmas, with shopping, cooking, school and office Christmas events and writing cards, and I have neither the time or inclination to stop and write it all down and take photos to put in an album that no-one but me will read, and I know what I did anyway!

Looking through the various photos I have of Christmas itself in years gone by, I have precious few that I think worthy of scrapping, mainly because they have been taken by a hubby who has had a bit too much Christmas spirit whilst I am busy in the kitchen, and TBH one picture of the family round the dinner table is pretty much like another no matter which year it was taken. As far as I am concerned Christmas scrapping can go and get stuffed. Winter papers are much more my thing as we do take the time and trouble to get out and about sledging and walking through the winter countryside, but there aren't a lot of those out there.

But enough about my Scrooge like tendencies, what about the rest of you? Are you going to be Journalling your Christmas or Counting down? If you are, why are you doing it and do you really go back and look at it during the year?

Let's hear your thoughts.

Well, well - a new UK scrapping mag!

Well I had to go and check out MaryAnne's post on UKS about the new scrapping mag, Scrapbook 365, and click through the links to the magazine website and the blog and last night I thought oh well its just going to be another Scrapbook Inspirations with a DT comprised of all the usual suspects.

I will admit to being pleasantly surprised at the reveal of the design team on the blog hop this evening. No MaryAnne, no Jane Dean, no Cheryl Johnson, no Shimelle, just a lot of very talented ladies, some of whom are totally new faces to me.

Its early days, but I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I don't see how the last poster in the previous thread can say she loves it when we haven't actually seen it yet, but as its from the Craft Stamper stable, its from a reliable established company, fingers crossed that we are all pleasantly surprised when it does hit the news stands on the 18th November.

If nothing else it should give the Scrapbook Magazine a much needed kick up the backside, although credit where its due, SBM has kept going through thick and thin where other, better magazines have fallen by the wayside.

Can anyone who is at Alexandra Palace this weekend let us know what their first impressions of it are?

Threads on this blog

From Feb 2008 this blog will only hold 3 of the latest threads, as new ones are made the oldest will be deleted permanently.

I have been asked why I do this as some have tried to search for older posts. I feel it is only fair that there is a very short life span of some of the posts that can be upsetting to those being smacked regardless if they are a business or not.

We are, after all human and have feelings so if you have been smacked at all on this blog please note that probably within a week the whole thread will be gone!

If anyone who has been smacked would like to discuss the possible removal of comments about them before it would vanish using the 3 threads policy, please feel free to contact me directly, and I will consider each case on its merits.
However, please note that I will not deal with any email on this subject from third parties, if you want it to be removed you must contact me yourself.

UKSS
